Happy Birthday, Ernest Hemingway. 🥂🎉🎂 • • The U.S. writer and Nobel Prize winner was a celebrated novelist that lived in Paris, Toronto, Miami and Havana. His writing took him to Spain during the civil war, to China, and to London and Germany during World War II. • • Hemingway spent 20 years of his life living in Cuba. Today, his home and many of his memories remained preserved on the island. He left the Caribbean nation when the revolutionary 26 of July movement decided to appropriated land owned by U.S. and foreign nationals to redistribute to the people. His finca along with 4000-6000 of his personal book collection was expropriated by the Cuban state in 1960. • • He died shortly after taking his own life in 1961.

Peru protests against the possible pardon of ex-dictator Fujimori. Activists and human rights organizations are rallying in Peru, to protest against a possible pardon being granted to the former President Alberto Fujimori. • • The authoritarian leader, who ruled the country from 1990 to 2000, was sentenced to 25 years in prison in 2009 for homicide, aggravated kidnapping and crimes against humanity. In celebration of #FridaKahlo's birthday, teleSUR looks at the Mexican artist's most iconic paintings. Born July 6, 1907, Frida Kahlo was an iconic visual artist who redefined contemporary Mexican art. Her deeply personal paintings reflected her life of exuberance and suffering. Kahlo's work reflected her social awareness and her tumultuous life which included a the tragic accident which left her with serious health problems at the age of 18 years. This fed into her art with her brightly colored paintings belying scenes of trauma and distress. She considered herself a strong ally of the international communist movement and was a militant of the Communist Party of Mexico. She and her husband, muralist Diego Rivera, were both part of the muralist movement which promoted Indigenous Mexican culture in art.

Thousands of protesters in Hamburg, Germany greet the G20 Summit. In preparation for the 2 day meeting thousands have taken to the streets in rejection of the reunion for many reasons including environmental rights, racism, and the global capitalist order. Approximately 30 resistance events are planned until the 8th.
