You've heard of fog, but do you know about FOD? Foreign Object Debris is a big deal at airports. Objects as tiny as a beer bottle cap can damage an airplane. Every three months volunteers from Sacramento International Airport walk the runway to pick up debris and make the runway tidy. This is in addition to thrice-daily inspections by airfield staff.
