Every year we work with our local elementary schools to teach and get them excited about robotics. Throughout he year, FRC team members visit the elementary schools each week and mentor them as they design and program a LEGO robot to play a custom game we've designed. Their activities culminate with a championship tournament held at our high school. This year's game is similar to the 2003 FRC game, Stack Attack! On Wednesday, June 1st, 8 teams, 2 from each of North Brunswick's 4 elementary schools, will compete in a tournament. Our team had an amazing weekend at the Bridgewater-Raritan District Competition. We ranked second after qualification matches and made it to the finals as part of the first seeded alliance with teams 1257, 3340, and 555. We also took home the Industrial Design Award! This was the first official competition the team has attended without our founding mentor of 20 years who is recovering from a successful kidney transplant. At today's team meeting, we celebrated our founding mentor, Mr. Wayne Cokeley, who has held down our team's stronghold for 20 years. On Tuesday, he will undergo a kidney transplant and the long recovery period will prevent him from attending the rest of our competitions this season. Get well soon, Cokeley!
