In case you haven't heard, the #CulverCity Ice Arena, the former practice home of the @LAKings for more than 20 years, closed its doors, perhaps for the last time, on February 2, 2014. The ice has melted. The only sign of life are the cars parked in the rink's lot, rented by a nearby auto dealer for storage purposes.

But there is still a chance that the rink might come back to life. On July 28, the Culver City City Council will consider declaring the property as a "City Cultural Resource," which could provide further protections for the property due to its cultural and/or historical significance.

But the building's architecture is not what makes the Culver City Ice Arena a cultural or historic landmark. Rather, it's the people who skated there, whether they were Olympic figure skaters or @NHL players, and you might be surprised to learn who some of the more notable, even legendary, players who practiced there from just about every #NHL team were.
