2013 was a dream-like year. As if I had fallen into a deep sleep and went on a series of wild rides and adventures. The year was full of ups and downs. Though I had many reasons to give up on my dreams, I was continuously reminded of the reasons I started my life in the mountains to begin with. Alaska, the holy grail and utopia of big mountain skiing and snowboarding, welcomed me twice in 2013. First to attend #TailgateAlaska and spend time with other like-minded big mountain riders, share my story with said community and scare my pants off on some of the largest and longest lines I've ever ridden. A couple months later I was invited to join an all star cast containing some of the bigger most notable names in ski and snowboard mountaineering. This 26 day climb of Denali is hands down the most life-changing experience I have undergone since my decision to wash dishes in Alta, Utah and begin snowboarding 6 years ago. A combination of fear and perseverance kept me sane and safe along the way. As well as noting every word spoken by my mentors along the way. The mountains have given me a second life. An opportunity to be everything I couldn't dream to be as a child. I couldn't be more grateful to have the life I have now. For that I give my life back to it and the people I associate it with and devote every day of this life to being a better human being. That is what #Streets2Peaks stands for.
If you'd like to know more about my Denali story follow the S2P #photolog hashtag. It contains 25+ photos and captions documenting my experience on the mountain. Here's a thanks to the many people and companies in support of my story: @thenorthface @smithoptics @vanssnow @snowbird @voke_tab @jonessnowboards @karakorambc @avalon7 @snowboardermag
