jdsutterMeet Peter, a "hydro geographer" from the Bay Institute ("I invented that term") and a fountain of factoids and stories about the #endangeredriver. He told me that people have boated California waterways in the past to prove the are legally a public resource. "Every state has a different test of navigability. In California we have the pleasure boating test." So maybe I'm on a pleasure cruise of sorts, with more of a symbolic purpose than I realized. Peter is a contemporary of Stewart Brand and went to Berkeley in its heyday. He carries what looks like a meat thermometer and made us guess the air temperature every hour or so. Used to be a truck driver in the Central Valley but water is his calling.
