Found this old postcard of #SanFrancisco at a garage sale, showing the city at the time of the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition. We made our best guess of where the Jessie Street Power Substation (that would later become The CJM) was located.

Description on the back: "No other city so overwhelms the beholder with its vistas." #aww #TBT

  • hellocanutoYeah, that's about right on the location. ⛲ The expo on Treasure Island looks amazing. I always wonder how much more beautiful this city would have been if that were there today (or the Panama Pacific of 1915 on the Marina neighborhood). Definitely we would be the crowning jewel of the country.
  • jewseum@hellocanuto We're still pretty attractive :) But definitely, there should be an Augmented Reality experience of the city's various fair constructions!
  • gleesonlibraryLove that perspective on The City @jewseum - thanks for posting!!
  • jewseum@gleesonlibrary of course!
