“Spicy Holiday Triple-Orange Cheer”
A #HolidayJuice presented by @karenkipp_juice_goddess .
Yield: approx. 12 ounces, 1 serving
2 oranges (rind and most of pith removed)
½ lemon (rind removed)
2 carrots, medium
½ small zucchini (substitute cucumber)
¼ cup sweet potato (substitute 1 additional carrot)
½ inch fresh turmeric root (substitute 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric)
½ inch fresh ginger root (substitute ½ teaspoon ground ginger)
¼ teaspoon cinnamon ground (sprinkle on cut fruit)
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg, ground (sprinkle on cut fruit)
pinch of clove, ground (sprinkle on cut fruit)
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract (add after juicing)
Optional: ½ cup of red grapes, ¼ teaspoon of goji powder, a dash of sea salt
This little superfood holiday gem calls for three different orange-hued beauties to offer the maximum cheer and nutrition. The oranges bring the anti-inflammatory power of Vitamin C for dancing and prancing all night, while the carrots and sweet potatoes offer loads of beta-carotenes for more sparkling visions of Sugar Plums. The zucchini offers Omega-3’s, B vitamins, and minerals for glowing faces and lemon provides a bounty of alkalinity and a pucker (possibly under the mistletoe?). Ginger and turmeric quench inflammation and further support digestion of “non-superfood” holiday fare. Cinnamon helps regulate blood sugar and spices things up a bit along with the nutmeg and clove. If you desire a little more sweetness, add some red grapes for a treat and a whole bunch of resveratrol. The optional goji powder will amp up the antioxidants to keep you feeling extra cheery. For a special holiday gift to yourself, try blending the juice with a cup of full-fat coconut milk, one additional whole orange (rind and pith removed) and one cup of ice. May your days be merry and bright!
