are there better books out there that teach you how to knit?
  • elsiemarleyare there better books out there that teach you how to knit?

  • sbsterlingI used knittinghelp dot com a lot great video tutorials
  • epassiasYouTube!
  • elsiemarley@mackenzieh87 I learned crochet from an awesome kids book, but I can't find any equally awesome knitting ones.
  • fluxradDash taught himself to knit and crochet entirely from YouTube... But he has an easier time watching and imitating than reading...
  • needleandspatulaStitch n bitch is actually not bad (I didn't learn from it but have taught friends with them using it as reference when I'm not there). Best is to have a friend teach you!
  • ameliabarnabyAnother vote for YouTube!
  • heyporkchopI learned from stitch & bitch & then from classes at a yarn shop!
  • heyporkchop(Ps: I can't wait to see you knitting, you always create absolute beauty!)
  • mellysewsI've also used stitch n bitch to teach; it's pretty good
  • elsagedesignsI learned from Stitch n Bitch too!
  • elsiemarley@heyporkchop aww thanks, but there will be a lot of janky scarves to start.
  • swelldoveMeg, I found the best way was with www.knittinghelp.com videos and to join my local knit night if you dont already have any friends that you can call when you need help. Youtube has lots of really good videos to!! Love this. @elsiemarley
  • tumblingblocksStitch n Bitch is really a great learning book. Excited that you're learning.
  • nestedinstitchesYep. Stitch n bitch here, too. It's nice to have all the basics in a book and go to YouTube if you need some additional visualization.
  • oversewnI am learning right now too! I've been on YouTube - I like the videos from knitfreedom. I like the purlbee too!
  • beehivechildCheck out your local yarn shops.. all of ours offer free Saturday beggining knitting if you buy their yarn.
  • floatingworldI learned from Stitch & Bitch too - I only made 2 projects, the baby blanket and hat, but I use it as a reference. The Debbie Bliss baby knits for beginners is good too. Good luck!
  • elsiemarley@jessiefacehuish I am bit of a angry/frustrated/embarrassed beginner, so I thought I'd start with a book and graduate to a class :)
  • elsiemarley@needleandspatula @heyporkchop @mellysews @nestedinstitches @floatingworld stitch and bitch it is!!
  • nestedinstitchesHave fun, can't wait to see your creations.
