Collab sold out. This month’s been a blur. Finally coming off a much-needed week off and before October ends, I just want to say thank you 🙏🏽

We brought out somewhere around 2-3 thousand of our closest friends and family from this thing of ours called streetwear and the beautiful city of Los Angeles to celebrate 12 years in the game and our first @adidasoriginals collaboration earlier this month to kick everything off. THE MENACE SUPERSTAR 🌹 My first shoe with @adidasoriginals.

Been writing out what I’ve been wanting to say this morning and I just kind of realized... tell em how you really feel🤷🏽‍♂️ I’m not doing no storytelling on this caption I’m just talking. No “I can’t believe I’m here” moments. I don’t subscribe to the idea that as a Latino in this game… a game built on perception, backgrounds, and communities… a moment like this should come as a surprise for us. We’ve been ready. & we need more of it.

I’ve been patiently waiting for this moment. I just hope we delivered.

If you’ve been steady putting in the work, this one’s for you to be honest. That’s real life for a lot of us… from all backgrounds. I relate more to the kid in a garage just trying to figure it out than to the ones too scared to help the next person up.

This shoe represents that journey. That fight. My family’s story. My mom, my dad, and their sacrifices. My mom having to sell candies as kid to help my grandma instead of having the privilege of going to school. My dad nearly losing his life trying to flee his country. Old Rose being my mom’s favorite color. The harder tough exterior protecting the soft inside. Meant to feel like a relic, an heirloom… weathered, textured, and standing the test of time. It’s just a shoe, but it’s also not.

I’m talking to everything happening right now. Cause really… could you? This person from Southeast LA with immigrant parents did.

I promise one day I’ll keep it tame and just make a product for the sake of making a product. But for this one… my first one, my first shoe… I had the chance to honor the people and stories that got me here, and I took it. 🌹

𝓗𝓮𝓲𝓻𝓵𝓸𝓸𝓶𝓼 🌹 by Steven Mena.

A rose grew from concrete, cracks wide as scars.
Fed by sweat, sun, and dreams… locked behind bars.

No garden, no guide… just grit in the soil.
We bloomed through the smog, through hustle and toil.

Not fabric, not stitches, it’s weight that we wear.
A testament built from the burdens we bear.

The soles were anointed in fire and rain,
on streets where murals still echo our pain.

Three stripes stamped like war paint across the side,
each one earned through pain we never tried to hide.

Laced with pressure, tied with pride,
scars in the leather no one can hide.

From Southeast corners to Downtown lights...
we didn’t walk easy paths, we earned our stripes.

Every scuff on the toe box, every crease near the heel,
is an heirloom of sacrifice that we still feel.

What you see, is legacy in motion.
Proof stitched-in, bound by devotion.

MENACE stamped bold, raw, unfiltered, & loud;
not for the clout, but to make our families proud.

These pieces... they carry a loaded confession.
Worn with the chip we gained from rejection.

You call it fashion. We call it proof.
An heirloom of survival, culture, and our unvarnished truth.

So wear ‘em with pride, ‘cause we earned our dues.
But ask yourself this... Could you walk a mile in our shoes?

Rang in my 30th birthday yesterday surrounded by the city and people I love.

This moment was never supposed to be about me… and it still isn’t, an actual recap of everything MENACE x adidas is otw we’re going back to business as usual right after this… but for now, I’ll let myself bask in it. Ask anyone at the adidas offices how hard I fought to have this rollout start on an earlier date. But for one reason or another, it kept getting pushed… then pushed again.. and again. Eventually, I stopped fighting it and realized yesterday that it was meant to happen exactly like this. Somehow, the first of many moments, debuts, & events with adidas ended up landing right on my birthday.

I guess I’m only highlighting that because life has a funny way of reminding you some things are already written for you, you just have to keep showing up.

Twelve years almost to the day since I started this journey. Thirty years since my parents brought me into this world. And now, standing here, I can humbly say the younger version of me would be proud. Because it’s finally starting to feel real that I have my own shoe deal. And I can look my parents in the eyes and say “thank you, look what you’ve done.” To show them that their hard work, the hell they went through to come to this country empty handed, and all the years they spent sacrificing for me and my older brothers weren’t for nothing.

To everyone who’s been part of this… thank you for real, from the bottom of my heart.

We’re going to be posting a lot this week starting with my short film, poem, and adidas shoes titled 𝓗𝓮𝓲𝓻𝓵𝓸𝓸𝓶𝓼… so hope you enjoy it all. I’m really proud of this one. 🌹
