The decision of @theberlinermag magazine to run an ad campaign for the Nova Festival Exhibition was taken against the explicit objections of its editorial staff and regular freelance contributors.
As expressed in a letter to management, we freelancers consider these ads clear evidence of ownership taking a political stance on Gaza, have for months pressured the magazine to suppress editorial coverage of Palestine.
As such, we have no other choice but to protest the campaign by withdrawing our collective labour for the magazine’s next issue.
We demand that “The Berliner” withdraw the ads. If ads continue, our protest will continue.

The Berliner mag promoting this morbid celebration of Oct 7 Nova victims, which silences the +68,000 Palestiniens killed by Israel — is plain disgusting.
But not surprising! @waltercrasshole @wladekflakin Have you read the mag you write for — especially since Oct 2023?

As a founder of this magazine, I was sad. But not surprised. The mag's Gaza BLINDSPOT was there for everyone to react. This ad campaign only reflects the EDITORIAL LINE of its investors, which we all knew.
Dear ex-colleagues, I’m surprised it took TWO YEARS for you to react!!
(and acknowledge a simple fact : ex-EXB isn’t the fiercely independent/critical journalistic voice it used to be. It’s a light city mag with consensual lifestyle politics under investor’s influence. )

I noticed comments were disabled. At the same time a really lovely Israeli couple that expressed their critical position of our government in posts about them looking for an apartment are met with the most vile hateful comments. I started talking to the audience at the German shows about this. So far so good :S

Der unter der Oberfläche der Erscheinungen bestehende Sachverhalt, der zu seiner Transparenzmachung emotionsfreier Rationalität bedarf,spielt in diesem biologischen Prozess keine, wirklich keine Rolle.

You’re protesting an exhibition commemorating one of the worst massacres of Jews since the Holocaust? The moral compass is truly broken. Where’s the empathy for the Jewish victims of October 7? This is not justice — it’s moral decay.
