Vast timescales of organic and inorganic materials are foregrounded in the work of designer and furniture craftsman Damien Wright. Working with recovered Australian timbers, he explores notions of place and placemaking, belonging and alienation. Through a careful selection of woods and mixed materials, he interrogates the intersection of deep time and contemporary culture. Wright’s Tectonic (Console) 2023 is crafted from 10,000 year old Ancient Red Gum, resin and bronze. Wright is presented by @gallerysallydancuthbert at Melbourne Design Fair.
