Fourteen years ago Israel sentenced Ahmad Sa'adat to thirty years in prison. CODEPINK is joining @samidounnetwork in their week of action to call for his release.
Two years before his sentencing by Israel, he was kidnapped by occupation forces from the Palestinian Authority-run Jericho prison. Ahmad's story is a common one. He is one of thousands of Palestinian political prisoners who languish in Israel's prisons for demanding rights for Palestinians.
International action in this case is essential. During Sa'adat's early days in prison he was imprisoned by guards from the US, Canada, and Britain. His imprisonment, and the imprisonment of thousands, is made possible by these government's support.
As Sa’adat was persecuted by the Israeli occupation for leading an “illegal organization”, Palestinian organizations are listed in the U.S., Europe, Canada and elsewhere on so-called “terrorist lists”. These designations are used to criminalize resistance to occupation. Now, the Israeli occupation is attempting to use terror designations to suppress organizing and activism from grassroots organizations and civil society groups as well. We stand in solidarity with our friends at Samidoun who are calling for the release of Ahmad and other political prisoners!
