15 years married - but it truly feels like we’ve lived a few lifetimes together.
This is a highlight reel of the good times. Because no one takes pictures of the moments we’d rather forget. No cameras come out to document the arguments, tears, stress, loss, conflict, unforeseen road blocks, etc .
The grit that it takes for a marriage to last isn’t cute or pithy or photo-worthy. It’s tough. It takes commitment, determination, resolve, humility and grace to see it through the inevitable hardships in life.
The movies end when the heroine gets married, but in reality the moment you say, “I do.” is just the beginning - not the cue to cut to the credits. It’s the part where two sinful humans try to create a life together for the rest of their days clinging to the grace of God and commitment to one another.
It’s a compilation of hard and good times, of growing into different people without growing apart.
And the result is beautiful. It’s security, mutual respect, & patience. It’s a relationship that transcends the seasons and rests assured it will stand the test of time because it already has over and over again.
I truly believe God hand-picked Ritch to be my partner this side of eternity. He has stood by me in my darkest hours and loved me when I didn’t feel (or act) lovable. He’s the *only* person in my life who has proven he isn’t going anywhere. Period. No conditions. He often says, “you’re stuck with me, babe” and I know that he means it.
I’m grateful for the life we’ve built together, and even more grateful for the God who has held us together when we didn’t have the strength to do it ourselves. ❤️
