Ten years ago, Drake hired me to train his 12-week old Akita pup, Reuben. He had already started developing some resource guarding issues with food. I brought Reuben up to the ranch and began working with him. He went everywhere with me, including Cesar’s ranch when I was the master trainer at Training Cesar’s Way. He was a big hit with all the students! Because of Drake’s crazy tour schedule, a two week training program became a month, then a few more months. Long story short, a decision was made that Reuben stay here and be a part of my pack. I was thrilled because by then I loved Reuben as if he were my own. And now he is. Reuben has a few knee issues that are apparently common in Akitas. Other than that he is healthy and happy. He’s my official travel buddy when I run errands. He lives for these daily trips. You may remember that a few months ago I lost my amazing German Shepherd, Dutchess, to lung cancer. She was the love of Ruben’s life. They did everything together.
