CPP's own rock star, @cpp_science professor Nicholas Van Buer, completed his 500-mile hike across the Mojave Desert today. Van Buer, an associate professor of geological sciences, spent his sabbatical filming an educational YouTube series chronicling his 40-day journey through some of the most interesting terrain in the world, all the while finding his own water sources and even baking his own bread. He shares pearls of wisdom along the way: identifying rocks ranging from those propelled into the Mojave 19 million years ago by a "supervolcano" in Arizona to those from “snowball earth,” a global freezing 635 million years ago.
