PRINCESS KATE CONCLUDES CHEMO, WILL RETURN TO SOME PUBLIC DUTIES
Catherine, Princess of Wales released this video announcing she has completed her chemotherapy treatment and will soon return to a “light program” of public duties. She previously announced she was receiving treatment for an undisclosed type of cancer earlier this year.

In the video, filled with footage of the British royal family playing in nature and spending time together, the princess said her “path to healing and full recovery is long.” She thanked the public for showing “kindness, empathy, and compassion” and told those currently “continuing their own cancer journey” that “I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand.”

I can’t remember another time we’ve heard the kids’ voices can you? I also have a friend who is now cancer free and said that Kate’s message resonated with her. Think this is an important public message?

Beautifully stated and filmed. Breast cancer survivor here. Been one year since surgery but suffered a chest wound that delayed healing. Sick with bronchitis now bc I'm still immune compromised and likely not masking up enough. I think of William who has a wife with cancer, a dad with cancer and tremendous responsibilities. I'm not a huge Royals fan but these beautiful people have grit, compassion and a clearly loving family relationship. I wish them good health and plenty of laughter

I don’t understand the lack of transparency about what type of cancer she has purely from a public health perspective. It seems privileged and cloistered. I understand that everyone gets to divulge their own level of privacy or openness, but with someone who is such a public platform, it seems indignant and out of touch. She could have so much affect on people with a similar type of cancer or people who know someone with a similar type of cancer, it’s really annoying. She is so protective of her own privacy as a public person over any public good.

I’ll start: I’m grateful for this community. There are days doing the news is hard, and I keep coming to it because you do. You’ve shown me it’s still possible to build real connections across differences — that there’s a whole world of thoughtful people who care about this country and one another and are skeptical of the extremes. You remind me of that.

Jeffery Carroll, the executive assistant chief of the DC Metropolitan Police, spoke at a press conference to update the public on the shooting of two National Guardsmen near the White House earlier today. He explained that the suspect shot at the two soldiers at around 2:15pm ET while soldiers were on “high visibility patrols” in DC. Other National Guard members stepped in and “subdued” the suspect who was taken into custody.

Officials called it a targeted attack, say that the suspect is currently not cooperating and there is no known motive.

Despite a false report by West Virginia’s governor, the soldiers are still reportedly alive.

FBI Director Kash Patel also spoke alongside DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, who said that the guardsmen “are in critical condition in a local hospital.”

This comes after a judge ruled last week that the Trump administration had deployed the National Guard to DC unlawfully. The administration today filed an emergency motion to keep the troops in DC and deploy an additional 500

At least two members of the National Guard were shot near the White House today according to a law enforcement official and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. Shots rang out near 17th and I Streets NW, which is an area that National Guard units from several states have been patrolling for months. Police quickly blocked off several streets as dozens of emergency vehicles immediately arrived at the intersection. The National Guard has not yet commented, and details about what led up to the shooting remain unclear.

The Washington Metropolitan Police Department announced that one suspect is in custody and that the scene of the shooting was secured. No motive is publicly known at this time.

Karoline Leavitt said, “The White House is aware and actively monitoring this tragic situation. The President has been briefed.”

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem released another bizarre and threatening ad on Fox and Friends this morning. In the ad, she warns immigrants not to cross the border illegally. But she also celebrates America’s landscape in the ad. We thought it was noteworthy Noem released this ad on the same day the Trump administration announced that they will be raising national park prices for foreign visitors starting in 2026. The administration is calling this “America-first entry fee policies.” International visitors without an annual pass will be charged $100 per person to enter 11 of the most popular parks. Foreign visitors will pay $250 for an annual pass compared to $80 for citizens. And fee-free days? Those will be reserved exclusively for American citizens.

So she’s essentially saying: “Look at our beautiful country that we definitely don’t want you to see unless you pay us substantially more money. Because nothing says “land of the free” quite like price-gouging tourists who want to see the Grand Canyon. That’ll be great for tourism!

A deadly fire is burning inside multiple high-rise apartments in Hong Kong right now. The fire is jumping from one building to another, reports say bamboo construction scaffolding caught on fire. At least 13 people have died so far including 1 firefighter, and many others are injured. Others remain trapped in the buildings. Many of the residents are elderly.

Firefighters are trying to contain the blaze and help residents escape higher floors. The fire is burning inside a complex that consists of 8 buildings and ~2,000 units. CNN reports that this “appears to be the most deadly blaze in Hong Kong in nearly three decades.” We’ll keep you updated.
