Up late still stunned and saddened by today’s loss of everyone’s friend Pedro Gomez. I first me Pedro almost 30 years ago and it was always special seeing him at the ballpark or the Italian Grotto. I will never forget the time he ran into @neilleiferphotography at Elaine’s in New York, and after many cocktails he had to call and tell me all about it. Pedro was one of those cool writers who loved photographers and was always supportive of everything I did. So much so that he wrote the foreword for my book Instant Baseball that came out in 2013. Lately whenever we talked it was always about his son Rio, who I once photographed as a baby, and how well he was doing pitching in the Boston Red Sox organization. My condolences go out to Pedro’s family and all of his friends. Baseball will never be as cool or as fun as it used to be. #rippedrogomez #instantbaseball
