The bird is the word 🐦 🦉 🐦 Designed by @hoot.alex, Whirly Birdie is a variable typeface inspired by American advertising from the 1950s. Along with 5 font weights, the typeface also features Whirlybats, a ding bat font that uses variable technology to animate its 200+ glyphs. Learn more about the typeface—link in profile.

👁 On @AIGAEyeonDesign this week → It was Brian Eno who invented the term ‘scenius,’ which counters the myth of the lone genius and credits the collective effort. There might be one name on the front of the record sleeve, though there’s usually a whole cast of important contributors with their names written in tiny lettering somewhere on the inlay sleeve: the scene, as it were. In his latest Under the Covers column, Jeremy Allen explores the collaborations that have been integral to Eno’s moody album covers.⁠
