wildgina🦋 The Intimacy Of: Butterflies 🦋 As I started to venture into my art focus of botanical photography 🌸 - I ran into a few butterflies along the way! Flying by my lens to softly landing on a flower petal or leaf - I started to fall deeper in love with these magical insects. (Yes skippers - on the 5th slide - are butterflies! Not moths!)
I always find myself transported into a ✨ fairytale ✨ as I watch their beautiful wings flutter around me and in the sky. The sense of twirling in a fluffy dress and running through a field of wildflowers fills my mind at first glance. Belonging to an insect order called the Lepidoptera — the name means “scale-winged - these insects take a lot of practice to get comfortable around them for a photo.
With more than 17,500 butterfly types and 160,000 species in the world, each one I find in front of my camera makes it more special. Learning more about these alongside the botany of many plants adds a colorful flare and personal interest in these beautiful insects.
The rarest butterfly color is blue 🦋 (and funny that it is the only emoji color of wings we find on our phones, lol) and I hope to find the Common Butterfly in England on a future travel or a Fender’s Blue Butterfly in Oregon if I ever get a chance to visit. 🌸
