I accepted this award on behalf of the California State Treasurer’s Office from the WinRock International American Carbon Registry’s “commitment to quality” award. Treasurer John Chiang and Governor Jerry Brown signed the “Green Bond Pledge” back in 2016 but much of the credit belongs to Treasurer Chiang’s and now my current Deputy Treasurer Tim Schaefer for all his hard work, vision and leadership in battling climate change. Our commitment should not be based on selling green bonds because they are “trendy,” but rather because they a vital part of an integrated strategy that addresses the economic dangers and quality of life issues that face all Californians, regardless of their wealth or political power. @caltreasurer @winrock_international
