“The vibe in the bookstore today is out of this world.” That’s what Ryan said when I picked up his call a few minutes ago. • When I think of what I wanted to create with the bookstore, I remember “The Pit” from a “Different World.” Y’all remember “The Pit”? It was the place where folx converged, connected, performed, politicked, and simply communed. • I’ve always had a vision that this would be a community space; open to activist, introverts, radicals, for legged babies, mamas and papas alike. Equally important to me, is to create a space where folx who look like me, come from where I come, been where I’ve been and is interested in where we could go together, would feel welcomed. • Today, I’m going to celebrate how close we’ve arrived to creating “The Pit” like vibe. We’ve created community and I’m so grateful for those who call us “home.” We definitely have a ways to go however; where we are right now, I’m in total gratitude.
