Kenyan director Wanuri Kahiu sued the Kenyan government for banning her film "Rafiki," which was about a love story between two women, for "promoting lesbianism" and denying it a general release in the country. Kahiu filed a lawsuit against the Kenya Film Classification Board for violating her constitutional right to free speech and free expression as an artist. On Friday, a judge ruled that Kenyan society was not so weak that it could be shaken by a love story about two women and thus lifting the temporary ban on the film and allowing Kahiu to submit the film for Academy Award consideration 🇰🇪🌈🙌 (📸: AP, Film Movement) - #wanurikahiu #rafiki #movie #movies #film #films #oscar #oscars #academyawards #cannes #cannesfilmfestival #director #filmdirector #woman #women #lgbt #lgbtq #pride #gay #lesbian #lesbians #lovestory #loveislove #lgbtpride #lgbtcommunity #lgbtqrights #kenya #kenyan #africa #african
