GIST stands for gastrointestinal stromal tumor, a rare form of cancer. The annual event brings together patients, clinicians, research scientists, and advocates from across the country. Patients can meet with specialists, sometimes for the first time.
The clinic program also provides storage for GIST tumor samples that can then be accessed by researchers around the world to try to learn more about the disease. “We came to get, but also to give,” said Tiffany Werner, Bryce’s mother. “To get information but also to give—to help current and future patients.
