I love to use a laptop screen to observe pleochroism in gems. This is a beautiful 59.2-carat unheated tanzanite crystal that has been trimmed to prepare it for faceting (it was too dinged up to keep as a specimen). Note the color changes on the different axes of the crystal as I rotate it 90 degrees on each axis. #gemstone #tanzanite #pleochroism
