Meet our team! This week our #teamspotlight is on #LuckyIronFish Founder & CEO, Dr. Gavin Armstrong. 🐟 I am the Founder and CEO of Lucky Iron Fish. Aspects of my job range from strategic planning, sales and finance, investor relations and I am often the point person for external communications. 🐟 Why do you use Lucky Iron Fish? 🐟 A few years ago I noticed that my energy levels had completely dropped. There were mornings where I couldn’t get out of bed, which of course meant I had trouble sleeping the following night. I saw my doctor and it turned out I had iron deficiency. I tried to address it the natural way, but this meant giving up on my diet and spending more on food. Today I use the Lucky Iron Fish to ensure I add a healthy amount of iron to my daily diet in an affordable way. 🐟 What's your favourite way to cook with your Lucky Iron Fish? 🐟 When I lived in Cambodia I fell in love with South East Asian food. I took a few cooking classes and I (attempt) to cook these dishes back here in Canada. I use my Lucky Iron Fish when preparing soup or curry dishes (Tom Yum Goong or Fish Amok). Now that I am spending more time in India I am learning to cook some local dishes and incorporate the Fish into these as well (so far I have tried black dal and have failed at making dosa). 🐟 Tell us about your most memorable Lucky Iron Fish travels... 🐟 While traveling I met a female village chief in the Kandal region. She had made a commitment to focus on women’s health in her community, and she was delighted to learn about the Lucky Iron Fish and how it could help. Some members of her community were hesitant, so she used it first and invited her neighbors over for a meal. Once they saw that it did not change the taste of the food they were all onboard. I was really impressed with her dedication, and willingness to engage with the community on this important issue. 🐟 Your favourite fish pun? 🐟 Right now my focus is on scaling up the business.
