- nikkihaleyFun hanging out with this group today as we took on the Pride Parade in NYC. #SCTakesOnNYC #TeamHaleyUN #BooedButSmiling
- heatherdnyc@nalinh11 I'd love for her to go and show her support. Instead of doing that on Sunday, she very publicly complained about her ego bruising incident while literally surrounded by thousands of people who are subjected to exclusion, verbal harassment and potential violence, simply for being who they are! It's insensitive and tone deaf to claim "our country is better than this" for being booed when the LGBTQ community has to face far greater adversity every day.
- ninjapiratefishPlease learn what pride means you Garbage!
- pattymbuckleyYou get more flies with honey than with vinegar. There won't be change if people are insulting. If you want respect then show respect. Ambassador Haley is one of the kindest people I know. @nikkihaley
- beatpunk@wheeler_nyc Thanks very much!
- macho73“The citizens of South Carolina spoke – they spoke something that I, too, believe, which is marriage should between a man and a woman. I’m going to stand by the people of this state, stand by the constitution, I’m going to support it and fight for it every step of the way.” - this is why you were booed. You've actively worked against the LGBT community.
- huecifer@pattymbuckley she's kind as long as gay people don't have the same rights as her. She doesn't believe in the rights that people are marching for, but believes she should be entitled to enjoy the parade without anyone saying anything? Bless her heart...
- mia_4388@heatherdnyc I'm just going to out on a limb and guess that you don't really understand the fact her ego wasn't bruised, what happened was that rude entitled brats treated a family like trash. Let's say the pride participants got booed like Haley's family did could you imagine the outrage if Haley or other republicans gathered in a group booed the pride marchers? Stop acting like the group is so oppressed, you have no basis for your argument. They have all the rights everyone else does and the ability to infringe on religious liberty of Christian businesses. Just stop with the victim whiny liberal nonsense. Of course there are individual cases where disgusting homophobes oppress the lgbtq community, i.e. Orlando, but by and large as a community they are not oppressed by collective America nor do they face more adversity than anyone else does.
- heatherdnyc@mia_4388 You'll find a great amount of info by just googling "TED talks on the trans experience" or "LGBT hate crimes". I encourage visiting HRC.org who have plenty of insightful reports on LGBT discrimination and lack of protection remaining for many states. While strides have been made toward equality and inclusion, work is not done to achieve equality for everyone.
- heatherdnyc@pattymbuckley I completely agree that the booing was disrespectful and it's sad that was her takeaway from the march. Please keep in mind there were 45,000 marchers and 2 million additional people in attendance, most coming from a place of positivity, pride and inclusion. The boo's from the very few are not representative of the entire community. That's what I believe is misrepresented in her posts.
- reginaldliovesrogerWe appreciate Ambassador Haley about the human rights violations against gay people in Chechnya. I know that this highly professional and educated lady understands that the disrespectful behavior she experienced is not reflective of how we all feel.
- samuelmclnernehLet me fight against gay rights in South Carolina but then go and support their pride in New York City. Are you confused yourself or are you just stupid. You want to take a stand how about you do the right thing instead of fighting against their rights. You dumb ass
- mia_4388@heatherdnyc okay because ted talks are unbiased🤔let's see how many of those hosts are liberal, I'm willing to guess 99%. But I took your advice and watched it and all I got from it was the lgbtq community is occasionally oppressed by individuals but not the government or collective America and certainly less oppressed by the government then say evangelical groups. I don't want to have a lecture on how oppressed minority groups are when they and their government counterparts are the ones offended by the traditional American culture. How about since you seem so eager to learn about oppression you watch or read about Christian's in the Middle East, women in the Middle East, or gays in the Middle East. That's real oppression and if you want proof of Christianity under attack read Todd Starnes book Dispatches from Bitter America. Have a nice day, God bless.
- evilcityboiShe fought tooth and nail to keep us from receiving full and equal rights including marriage. She is no alia. Action speaks louder than words. I would have booed her myself. She backs the hateful agenda of the current administration.
- kirbugCheck this tweet from a fellow diner: "NIkki- I was there at that restaurant. We treated you with respect. You should not malign the #LGBT community by the actions of a few."
Gee...a politician backed by the current administration exaggerating to make themselves look like a victim of people they have directly worked to oppress...whodathunkit? - nalinh11@kirbug I was there and I heard what they said to her and it was not in any way respectful
- nalinh11@kirbug I was there and I heard what they said to her and it was not in any way respectful
- kirbugWhat they said? Who? The entire restaurant? The people outside? The point the poster was making on twitter was that she exaggerated the situation and that she is using the actions of a few people to malign an entire community. And sorry, but clearly she makes poor choices....or was looking for a spectacle or soundbite for breitbart. Maybe if you're in the public eye, vocally opposing gay rights to marriage, the day pride parade isn't when you take your family out on the town. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of Hells Kitchen. Btw....BOOOOOOOOOO
- kirbug@nalinh11 replied above, but didn't tag for whatever reason
- alabamaben123@nikkihaley I have seen you support the rights of LGBT Chechens and condemning the genocide of them. Even if you made some bad decisions in the past, that doesn't mean you can't change the future. With courage and integrity, you can support anything, even if it goes against your own party. And for that, I thank you for your service to our country.
- alabamaben123@nalinh11 some are not aware that your mother advocates for their rights, and have hurt your mother just because of who she is. A great man once said, "The only thing to fear is fear itself."
