  • _lattesfordantes_@flashyago Ik I fully understand and not to further continue the argument or any it's just that it's unfair to black women because if they wear their hair like this they get deemed as "ghetto" or "ratchet" and I get it tht u like this hairstyle but it's more than just hair how we wear it signifies our emotions and how we go about life but it's ok
  • flashyago@_lattesfordantes_ I see....ok i'm not from america so i'm ignorant to that kinda discrimination so i just saw the headline of a news article of these girls getting shit for wearing and braids and i just thought wow its like black people dont want to be united with whites or something but now i see that you're just tryna bring light to issues attached to wearing braids.....enlightening, ok good night sry for name calling hope america sorts itself out!
  • _lattesfordantes_@flashyago it's ok but America needs helpppp
  • zhazha_maquillage@flashyago I'm taking this comment as you acc wanting to be genuinely educated on the issue. No one should be attacking anyone in such a way. Just educating them, I don't look at a white person with braids and think ooo she's trynna be black that's not my mindset personally. Now the problem is some white people/ society do think they look better wearing things that are culturally associated with black people. There are people like that out there unfortunately hun. It gets us mad because like you agreed these hairstyles we wear aren't just a hairstyle to us it's a way of protecting our hair becuase it's fragile. Now for us to be degraded for them but when a white person wears it to be praised and be called trendy and eccentric is like a slap in the face and to also call it something else like boxer braids or mini buns when it it is infact called bantu knots and cornrows is a problem. If you created something and people felt inspired by you to wear it I would hope you would want them to credit you and call it by the name you gave it. That's all we want not to be disregarded and invisible like society always does to us. Like i said give credit and recognition where it's due. Now people attacking people over it makes me eyeroll because i feel like im doing now if i educate you on why it upsets us hopefully you will have a better stance on where we're coming from. It may seem like a hairstyle to you but it does more than that for us and to be shamed by society for it but have other people getting praised for it is just plain wrong. Point. Blank. Period. I don't expect you to completely understand but never get irrate like that over something you could never begin to comprehend because you will never have to deal with half the struggles a black woman faces in society. Culture appropriation runs sooooo much deeper than just a hairstyle. Have a nice day 💗😊
  • shirleybev2015Seriously people? Why do we have to see color and race? I see 2 beautiful young ladies sporting braids as they do when they go the island
  • shirleybev2015White people could make similiar comments similar to "braids being a black thing". However, I won't go there. Just stop using the race card and learn to love and appreciate art, uniqueness, people, individuality....love and Light....one love.
  • cwxviiThese comments are oozing with white privilege.
  • noorperachaDid you know there are black models?? CRAZY concept I know!!!!! Perhaps y'all should employ some for looks like this, JUST a suggestion. Know better.
  • noorperacha@zhazha_maquillage 👏👏👏👏 I mean they should change their name to @the_culturalappropriation_bar

  • pauliellenStupid media and over all stupid american media always exposing the kardashians. In europe they are considered the trashiest of trash, 0 taste, vulgar and 0 natural beauty. They are no role models just a bunch of tacky clowns
  • mad_hatter_crazy_84I mean...if we are going to talk about cultural appropriation y'all hypocrites need to give back all that culture you appropriated...like that cellphone, electricity (invented by a white guy), cars, houses, christianity, cable tv, internet, I mean I can keep going. Stop acting stupid, braids have been in every culture on back to the time of Vikings and native Americans. It's not just for black folks. But as I said since you're feeling some kinda way about appropriation give back what you took so you don't look like a hypocrite.
  • i_likequakeroats@mad_hatter_crazy_84 First of all TV cars houses cable...etc that is not culture dumbass do you know the defintion of culture? Nah, you dont. So use the dictionary honey. Those are inventions. Thats not culture at all. And Christianity is a religion, once again not culture. Plus, Jesus is middle eastern no white. Conrows originated in AFrica so idk y bringing up vikings...Jesus ur stupid asf. We didnt even say we own the hairstyle, we just saying its apart of our culture.
  • xo.jnicole@mad_hatter_crazy_84 you're completely misinformed.
  • mad_hatter_crazy_84@xo.jnicole The misinformed are those who seem to believe only one culture had braids. Maybe those misinformed should open a history book.
  • mad_hatter_crazy_84@i_likequakeroats Ad hominem attacks because you literally have nothing to go on. Braids in general have come from every culture imaginable for centuries. Open a history book educate yourself...calling a person stupid as fuck when you have absolutely no clue about historical accuracy. hypocrite much.
  • i_likequakeroats@mad_hatter_crazy_84 nothing I said had to do ith braids... fuckin put on glasses and read
