"Samtosha (contentment) is not craving for what we do not have as well as not coveting the possessions of others. The yogis tell us that when we are perfectly content with all that life gives us, then we attain true joy and happiness." 🙏 Studying the Niyamas for my Ashtanga immersion next month, and Samtosha is one that captivates my mind. Contentment is a word that in Eastern philosophy means simply to be happy in ones life and current situation. To not compare with each other. To not feel jealousy or envy for another's life. To be true to who they are, and not try to be someone they are not. To be pure, to be simple, to be true. To find happiness within ones self, and forge a path towards inner peace 😇 Contentment is western culture means to create goals, to create wants, desires and needs and then actively pursue them. To attain material possessions. To want more than we already have, and to feel greed and envy of what we don't have. To feel content in ones life, means to tick boxes. To have a life which is acceptable, to standard to perfection of everyone else's expectations - even if it's not truly that of your own 💔 Contentment. Happiness. Peace. In this technological age, it's easy to get caught up in what's going on around us; but it takes courage to become who we really are 😘❤🕉
