16&17/100: This is my mind most days-waves of thoughts swirling and twirling, crashing into boulders and cliffs, gusts of emotions blowing in a storm and some kind of murky, foamy goo in the corner. That's why I meditate. .

And I tell you what, coming back to doing it regularly is sinking in. I can feel the shift happening. It's like the edges of my emotions are softened. I'm reacting less, and acting better, finding more patience and empathy. .
.
Like today, when my grumpy teething toddler didn't want to leave the science museum and started doing that screamy tantrumy thing I guess almost-two-year-olds do, for the first time that LOUD in public, I didn't feel embarrassed or upset or like I was a bad mom or whatever other self-conscious thoughts I might usually go straight to. I didn't really have any thoughts at all. I was present, as I held him and consoled him and walked us out, distracted him with snacks, kissed his tears. I just felt... calm. .
.
Smoother edges. And last night after meditating, I was getting ready for bed and felt compelled to say things I love about myself in the mirror as I was brushing my teeth. Where did that come from? I dunno. But I went with it because I realized I'm not sure I've ever said those things to myself before, definitely not out loud. .
.
And today when I was meditating I started imagining myself sitting on a bench in the middle of a giant clover and flower field with the sun shining down on me, and my heart was sending out this pure green, amazing light. I focused on that light and imagined it wrapping itself warm and tight around some friends of mine who need it. I just feel totally full of love to share! And that is definitely not my usual reaction to the world around me. So yeah, things are happening 💆💜✌🏽
