    The cyanotype process dates back to 1841. Anna Atkins employed the technique to produce the first photographically illustrated book titled British Algae, in 1843.
    The ones featured here are by photographer Rinne Allen, made on sunny days in her backyard garden, using plant specimens from each season. These became a journal of when and where things grow, each one different, like the plants themselves, one-of-a-kind.
