66 years ago today, the world was blessed with the birth of Luther Ronzoni Vandross, the greatest singer of his generation. Luther was a brilliant songwriter, underrated producer, and the closest thing to vocal perfection I've ever heard. Luther remains my favorite singer, as his music always manages to heal, conjure, and inspire. (Some days, it also makes me want to jump off a roof.) But Luther is special to me because he is the consummate wounded healer, using his music as a balm for the broken-hearted at the same time that he continued to "Wait for Love" for the rest of his life. From "Glow of Love" to "Dance With My Father," Little Luther to Big Luther, we love you. Happy Birthday Loofa!!!!!!!!!!
