spadeandtrowelA final word on growing garlic for today... these are the pieces that are left when I have selected the best outer corms... it's easy to see the root base... this is the part that must go downward into the soil... there are two varieties here... the purple has been the better performer in my garden... I will persevere with the lighter white variety for another season... if there is a lack luster outcome I will look for another to trial... I sourced the purple as an organic garlic from my local fruit shop... not only was it organic it was grown locally... the white variety came from Diggers... a good source for heritage seed and ethically grown plants... however it also shows that not every variety is right for your locality... it's only by trial and error that we learn what works for our own particular garden's microclimate... if you have had a failure in the past don't be despondent... try to source some locally grown stock from a reputable fruiterer... it may be your answer to successful garlic growing #gardening #organicfood #organicgardening #growinggarlic #garlic #growwhatyoueat #gardeningtips #alliums #thegoodlife #inmygarden #mygardentoday #growit #growyourownfood #gardeningaustraliamag #gardeningaustralia #epicgardening #thehappygardeninglife #urbangardenersrepublic #opengardensvictoria #geelong #gardenlife
- kylbeebeePurple one works for me in Winchelsea! Started from 10 from Newtown farmers market. This year planted 500.. I restrained myself from last year's 800. Couldn't even give it away.. not true, I did...
- spadeandtrowel@kylbeebee ... fantastic... I think the purple one came from a grower at Winchelsea... you have been much more successful than me... well done 👍🏻 I don't have the space to grow that amount but I am aiming to have enough for myself and a few good friends 🌱
