I work for such a cool company. We have a very long history with #Steinway pianos and have the proof. This pic is of a part of the wooden crate used to ship a grand piano. This particular crate held a mahogany S [5'1"] or the quintessential 'baby grand'. This piece of the crate will decorate our new showroom in South Boston. Ironic that based on the serial number, this piano was made in '51.
It also traveled to Boston by train. The RR markings speak of the piano's journey.
Pianos are now shipped in cardboard that protects the piano as well as wood used to. I think. 🕶
