So what I call #vitamintexture and the exercises we do to specifically mobilize and strengthen our feet are necessary because we are a population that is chronically shod, under-moved, and artificially-terrained (not a word but work with me here). These texture tools are all great stand-ins but knowing that they're stand-ins (or is it stand ons?) is crucial to recognizing our nature deficit for what it is. Anyhow, how you feel when you step on something is based on the shape and yield of what you step on (and what surface the thing your stepping on is on) and also the tension of your own foot--the mobility of your foot's parts, thickness/dryness of your skin, etc. The more mobile the parts of your foot, the less pressure. Your foot will change as you exposed it to various pressures and deform it in different geometries, which is why mixing up your texture is key. One texture moves you one way, so really texture is a category of many different inputs. DO YOU GET WHAT I'M SAYING? #wholebodybarefoot #gooutside #MoveYourDNA #nationalfoothealthawarenessmonth

  • rosebrowncowYes! When you start to notice how flat and hard! all the surfaces we walk on actually are, it makes you wonder about what we have wrecked/done under the guise of safety !
  • staying_sarah@bearfootbeekeeper look at this magical half dome!
  • yourhealthcarenaturallyLove the Lego blocks, a true mums underfoot conditioning practice. 🙊
  • puddaholicI am a natural runner who insisted on wearing regular shoes for walking about (sorry). Then I went to Japan for ten days and wore my flexible, very thin soled running shoes everywhere. And the biggest surprise wasn't that my feet didn't hurt at all. It was JOY. Joy in feeling temperature differences in concrete tiles (half in the sun, half in the ahade), joy in actually feeling the urban landscape in my feet. Joy. It was a complete surprise. The things we usually miss out on.
  • nutritiousmovement@aledealmeida I don't know! My husband got it while living in Japan--I'll ask.

  • noniereesorI thought of you last night when I stepped on a little army man in a dark room. What began as a painful wish that my kids would put their toys away turned quickly into gratitude for Vitamin Texture. :)
