Oleander is usually overlooked in the Canary Islands, perhaps because it is so ubiquitous. It's used in gardens and parks, on roundabouts and by roadsides throughout the archipelago. It's pretty drought resistent, which accounts for its popularity, and the pink variety is one of those hot colors you associate with a subtropical climate. It also tolerates the salt air well & is grown along promenades. It's everywhere, and so we take it for granted, but just look at how pretty the clusters of flowers are when you stop to look. #islandlife #islandliving #Tenerife #CanaryIslands #IslasCanarias #flowers #canaryflora #canarianflora #floracanaria #subtropicalclimate #subtropical
