Part of my job includes helping to manage the biofact collection here at the Zoo. These “biological artifacts” help us tell the story of our animal residents. We purchase casts of bones, like the hippo skull, and we receive items such as the carved giraffe bone from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service that have been confiscated or donated. These biofacts are available for our staff and volunteers to use on a daily basis, but they’re also available for area teachers to check out and take a piece of the Zoo back to their classrooms. #TakeoverTuesday - Jesse Daniel, Onsite Interpretation Manager
