canwomenstem_150Angella Mignon-Smith (@ms_mignon ) has a passion for learning. She's been fortunate enough to see her career grow and evolve. She started off her early career as a #metallurgist working in the #Steel industry, and made the move to #Nuclear, where she'd been involved in large scale reactor refurbishment projects. She's had the amazing opportunity to work at both domestic and foreign reactors, built by Canada's then AECL.
The most notorious/prestigious project she's worked on was the NRU Vessel repair. In this project, an amazing team of #welders, engineers, #technologists, NDE and plant operators came together to repair Canada's #medical isotope producing reactor, which was leaking at the time. Angella was brought on as a #technical shift lead during the repair of the most significant leak repair sites near the
end of the project (after re-deployment from South Korea). Angella is now changing gears again, and delving into the world of NDE (non-destructive examination), and is currently working on her qualifications in ET & UT, qualifications of which are required for inspection and maintenance activities of nuclear reactors. In her spare time, Angella runs a photo booth business with her husband (www.gtaselfies.com) and she volunteers at her church to help with web development. She's fortunate to have had a vast number of
experiences, and hopes her story can inspire/encourage women in #STEM careers. With STEM, you never stop learning! "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." - Winston Churchill http://ow.ly/tEiu30ahbvo
