I once lived by a bridge where a man was swept underneath. The kid's name was Kanda Bongo Man - as in the famous Congolese musician from the 1990s. KB, as he was affectionately called, was a milk-hand on my neighbor's dairy. He was originally from Meru, and he claimed to have seen more vigorous rivers than our wet weather stream. He clearly had no idea about flash flooding. One misstep corrected all that. Minutes later, after being sloshed through a drain pipe, raked against thorny bushes, and swallowing a gallon or so of muddy 💦 he saw the light. I bet you KB has never forgotten his favorite Lingala lyrics OR to tread carefully around bridges!!
