  • sarahannehayesI took the final frames off the walls of our home this week. I've rotated many different @lindsay_letters canvases through this single spot over the last year, but it was a picture of this canvas four or more years ago that I saw and pinned and fell in love with that led to all the other canvases appearing on this wall.

People often ask me why I decorate and, more recently why, as a minimalist, I decorate seasonally. I don't change much each season, but the canvases and their colors and words change every few months. It's partly because I get a little bored and something as simple as swapping out a canvas can help with that decor restlessness, but there's a deeper reason behind it.
    .
Seasons are an interesting thing. The physical ones of nature are mirrored in our lives. We all go through various ones where new life is bursting forth like a glorious spring or it feels like always winter but never Christmas. And just like different seasons need different colors because burnt orange can feel like a weird color for spring and blush pink seems a little out of place at Christmas time, different seasons need different words, too.

I'm a words person. Y'all know this. They are my love language. They give me life. They help me give others life. They are how Jesus sinks truths into my heart that manifest themselves in a changed heart and life. And some seasons, I need different reminders on the walls of my home. In this season? "Tune my heart to sing Thy grace."
    .
Many aspects of this season in my life feel at conflict with each other. There is gratitude for having a supportive and loving family who encourages me to do seemingly slightly crazy things like pack up my life and run off to Florida. And at the same time, there is frustration with Jesus for another season of pulled up roots and fear at not knowing what comes next. But through it all, there is grace because He is by my side through it all.
    .
No matter what happens in my life, I pray He continues to tune my heart to sing His grace, for it is big and wide and immeasurable and unfathomable. Wherever you are today, friend, His grace is real. May He tune all our hearts to sing it this and every day. 💕
