Check out this bird’s eye view of our #BayonneBridge project. The Bayonne Bridge, connecting New Jersey and New York, sees an average of 1.5M vehicle crossings each year. It was necessary to raise the bridge’s roadway 64 feet above the original to accommodate “new Panamax” ships, while also ensuring that millions of people weren’t affected. One of our most technical engineering challenges to-date, the project is believed to be the first time a new roadway has been constructed above an existing bridge span. An additional challenge: keeping the existing roadway open to traffic throughout.
