Just did this warmup drawing as a tribute to Berni Wrightson, who passed away yesterday.
His (and Len Wein´s) Swamp Thing was published in Norwegian comic anthology Gigant when I was a kid and it blew my feeble little mind.
Wrightson´s mastery of light and shadow, paired with a keen eye for mood, grotesquery and using strange proportions for max dramatic effect made him an early favourite. As someone on the internet said, it made the things that go bump in the night pretty cool instead of scary.
I advice anyone to seek out his illustrated version of Mary Shelley´s Frankenstein.
I did Swampie here as a tribute. Thank you, Mr. Wrightson.
