Al Attles, a graduate of NC A&T, was the first coach from an HBCU to win a NBA title, coaching the Golden State Warriors to win the 1975 World Championship. Attles, known as “The Destroyer", spent 11 of his 33 seasons with the Warriors as a player and 14 years as a head coach.
