Turn the world upside down in the "King of yoga poses" Sirsasana, one of my all time favourite asanas. A headstand a day keeps the doctor away, don't ya know!
.
It took me years to master headstand and so much falling but if we're not prepared to fall we're never gonna fly, right?
With practice and patience I grew strong and confident enough to stay centred in the pose and now enjoy Sirsasana as a daily meditation, with closed eyes. 🙏🏻😴🙏🏻
.
Inversions can be scary at first but they offer SO many benefits; anti stress, calming to the mind, stimulating the pituitary gland, lungs, toning the abdomen, digestive system and so on....
.
In the early days let the wall be your friend, he'll have your back until you build strength and confidence. Supporting the shoulders with foam blocks, as shown in the picture, is another option and a good modification if you have neck issues, allowing you to experience the pose without any pressure on the neck. The benefits are the same.
.
Headstand grew my confidence so much. Experiencing the world from this perspective helps during the inevitable moments when your world really turns upside down🙃 The meditative quality it brings helps me draw on a place deep within and embrace life and her challenges from a steady place with open eyes, open arms, and an open heart.❤️✨
