jessicatelianWe eat a lot of beans (usually black beans), and since it's so much cheaper and better for you, I usually make my own in bulk. And, like with other basics like bone broth, I LOVE using my Instant Pot for them!
Every couple weeks, I soak a LOT of black beans (close to a gallon, dry) overnight. Then I split them into two batches to cook in the Instant Pot and end up with about two gallons of cooked beans.
I drain them and then transfer them to quart glass jars to freeze. I've found that since I don't freeze them with any liquid that can expand, I'm able to fill the jars almost to the top, though I still initially freeze them without the lids tightened.
And, because I'm infamous for never getting frozen stuff out in time to thaw sufficiently, another trick I've found is that, as long as I give the outside of the jar time to adjust a little, I can pour boiling water directly over the frozen beans and fill the jar without it breaking.
