Chanticleer Pear (Pyrus calleryana ‘Chanticleer’) is a surprisingly common street tree with a regular conical shape making it relatively easy to identify in winter. At other times of the year it’s somewhat underwhelming with sparse blossom compared to a cherry tree, and small brown berries that you’d be hard-pressed to recognise as pears. It can go a great golden colour in late autumn though.
