Happy Valentine's Day! I'll be celebrating with my husband - and no, I'm STILL not over the novelty of getting to call him my husband. Our wedding (and this photo) was just over a month ago, so cut me some slack ;)⠀
⠀
Tonight, I'll be making him a low key, homemade vegetarian dinner and of course - lots and lots of wine (I won't be making the wine though, I'll leave that to the experts).⠀
⠀
I stepped away from Instagram 3 months ago, to spend more time and energy on the aspects of blogging (and life) that give me the most joy. At the time, Instagram felt like a complete drag. I was tired of statistics and what felt like inauthenticity. ⠀
⠀
But really, Instagram (like everything else in life) is what you make of it. My favorite part about blogging - and Facebook, and Instagram - is the connections I make with readers and fellow bloggers, and I don't want to give up on that just because the pressure to be perfect is getting me down. And let's be honest, it's pressure that I inflict on myself.⠀
⠀
From now on, I won't be chasing an IG-worthy shot instead of enjoying a sunset, or meal, or day at the beach... and I'll only be sharing photos that mean something to me. Like this one. Especially this one - a shot of my now husband and I right after we got married, in our favorite place in the world, as the rain stopped for just a few hours. It felt like a special gift from the universe.⠀
⠀
I hope your Valentine's Day is amazing, whether you're celebrating with a significant other, by yourself, with friends or family, or your dog (I have heart-shaped canine cookies for my dogs today)... I hope you give yourself the gift of appreciating the love you have in your life right now, no matter the form it comes in, love is always the most special gift in this world.
