  • blondebuddha@ntopo Union is doing the best in their knowledge to keep bigoted values away from their restaurant. By alerting people, they are EDUCATING them about current events that are important to how they do business. Some people really appreciate the fact that local businesses close to them actually take the time, and have the respect to act moral. Working in service you have no idea the opinions and values of the next customer walking through the door, but I bet if somebody was blatantly sexist/racist/homophobic, they would deal in the appropriate matter. How do they profit from this? They are simply alerting their following, who clearly care enough about this local establishment to keep in the loop, of how they feel. If you don't care, unfollow.
  • 613union613@ntopo we have removed people for bigoted speech and inappropriate behaviour and will continue to do so. We were not motivated by publicity at all. We will probably lose more patrons than gain. This decision was not taken lightly at all. But points taken.
  • positive.jenergy🙌
  • nlecAnother self-righteous, holier than thou attention grabbing post. I'm a sucker for it I guess, otherwise I'd just unfollow you.
  • 613union613@nlec ha...touché
  • ntopo@613union613 I'm actually a big fan of your restaurant, your food, your staff and your social media presence. This is just weak though. No one even knew you were on @shopify , there was NO need for you to announce not using them. Seems like a publicity stunt to me.
  • tsaacs@ms.valerie lawl just because he made a statement *saying* he's against exclusion doesn't mean he's actually providing a safe, inclusive space for BIPOC and LGBTQ2S+ staff that have to deal w white nationalist clients 🤗 actions speak louder than (empty) words. not to mention the excuse of 'working within the law' as though that makes it ok to provide a platform for a site that publishes hate speech. why don't they at least re-direct profits they make from them to help not-for-profits working against the racism that Breitbart spews?
  • 613union613@ntopo again...it would be foolish to ostracize part of our customer base solely for publicity.
  • hollyhollyt@613union613 has been consistent and pretty damn clear about their ethics as long as they've been in the neighbourhood. Accusing them of attention grabbing over this one issue is pretty ridiculous given that they have a long history of speaking up on a whole host of other related issues. I'm thrilled to support a business who walks the walk...the fantastic cocktails don't hurt either!
  • itevans_photoÜber dbag stepped off Trumps tech panel only after 200,000 people uninstalled the Uber app. It started with one uninstall.
  • chachavivI like your catfish ...that is all...oh and the grits are slamming too
  • cslanglais@hollyhollyt AMEN. 🙏
  • lildrewsterAlthough i don't necessarily agree with it, it's a free country and people are free to support whatever businesses they see fit for whichever reason, ideological or otherwise... Kudos for taking a stand!
  • cslanglais@613union613 ❤️💪. Your business, your voice. Respect for using it to speak loud about what you believe in.
  • kdsundellAre you quitting Instagram, Twitter and Facebook too then, since Breitbart is allowed on them @613union613 ?
  • riccardo_____fYou know you made the right call when the best the haters can throw at you is that you did it somehow to help yourselves/for the attention (cause booming buisnesses always look to stir the pot) or that it's wrong because you didn't boycott everything under the sun.
  • lady.cheese@ms.valerie when did words start meaning more than actions?
  • lady.cheese@tsaacs 💞
  • 613union613@kdsundell I don't see how they are related?
  • kdsundell@613union613 you are leaving Shopify because they allow Breitbart on their platform. To be consistent should you not leave all sites that allow them?
