lkcnhmThe Sperm Whale (Physeter macrocephalus) is the largest toothed whale on earth. It derives its name from a waxy liquid found in the sperm whale’s head, now called spermaceti, which was previously mistaken to be whale sperm! This fluid is now thought to aid them in buoyancy or echolocation.
Curious to find out more about these gentle giants of the ocean? Join us for a free talk as Tony Wu takes us through his 17-year learning process, where he swam among pods of whales in hundreds, perhaps thousands. He will relate his encounters with what we seemingly know and speculate, in the academic context, about the mysterious giant mammals of the deep.
