“I feel a certain sense of self-worth I didn’t have before. Getting this job, seeing how everyone else works every day, I don’t have those performance fears anymore.” Aquila, AJ, is aPer Scholas grad from Atlanta- curious, determined, intelligent, and looking for an opportunity to succeed. Prior to Per Scholas she received a degree in Mathematics from Spelman College, but was turned down from countless jobs due to her lack of experience in the #technology field. Through Per Scholas, AJ was able to connect with a community of educators and students who were excited to launch into a hands-on learning process. “The instructor knew his stuff and constantly related our classroom to things that were going on in the world” she recalls. During a mock interview series, AJ met with Nancy Cox, Senior VP for Solutions Engineering at #Worldpay. Nancy was blown away by AJ’s broad range of interest, absorption of information and innate drive to progress in her career. Now, she is an IT Product Analyst for Worldpay and is responsible for analyzing, designing, and developing the company’s systems software. When speaking of her growth, she said “six months ago, I didn’t even know a motherboard was inside a computer.” #Womenintech #problemsolver #careergrowth #techtraining
